Bay of Fundy Ice Pebbles

When exploring the Bay of Fundy coast it's important to look down at the beach as well as out at the view. While I busily snapped away at the scenery earlier this week, my dog snuffled along the wrack line left by the receding tide.

Wrack is a great place to find little treasures - sea glass, shells, starfish amid the assorted flotsam. This time the wrack line produced something I'd never seen before: ice pebbles! Initially I thought they were bits of opaque white sea glass but, when my dog began eating them I kinda clued in. (Belle usually explores the beach with a large rock in her mouth but never swallows it!). I hope you can catch the cool contrast of the ice pebbles, the sea shells and the tumbled beach stones in this blog-sized photo.

  2. Hi Terri, I sent a previous note but I think it went into the wild blue yonder,I'll try again...

I love your ice pebble picture & your blog is Fantastic & I intend on reading it throughout. Your love of the Bay & the Fundy region is surely evident.
We discovered the Bay when we went on a picnic to St.Martins, NB in '98. When we left we couldn't stop thinking about it... it was as if we had just fallen in love or had a spell cast upon us. Within a week we searched, & near the village on a red sandstone bluff, with an awe-inspiring view of the Bay found land which had been neglected (that allowed us to be able to afford it), & purchased it...
it took us a year to clean it up, then the next year we began building our home/studio .... that is when our adventure began...
We have been absolutely captured by the magic of the Bay.... It's hard to explain the feeling that comes over you....
Must be something in the air....
Thank you so much for your blog, gwen
